The housing market doesn't surprise me; it's been rising all along and enabled the economy to experience only a mild recession.

This is a classic case of the labor market lagging. We're going to see weakness for another few months, but the pace of the growth of the economy is going to help the job market. We are busting out of recession here. This is not a mild rebound.

The strength of the housing market this year continues to surprise, despite rising home prices and slightly higher interest rates.

I believe this is tied to a recession, maybe a mild recession, but a recession in that the amount of revenue reported by telecom suppliers and dot.com companies will be lower.
