My job is to get open ... hit the holes, the quiet areas and lull them to sleep. But you can't do that unless you're playing with two guys that are great with the puck.

It was a great match, ... because I like him. . . . I enjoy playing with him. You want to win because he's such a great player. I just figured I could lull him to sleep. I figured if I beat him, there might be a small golden rainbow out there, and I did.

They are an extremely well-coached team, and that patience is the key. They will lull you to sleep, and those back cuts will be open, and they'll have open jumpers. Or you can become frustrated and foul. Particularly at this stage of the game, it's mental. You have to be mentally prepared to execute.

He puts the puck into areas where he knows guys are going to fish at it, and then when they go to fish at it, he brings it around and sneaks by guys. He uses his body well to protect the puck and then he rolls off of guys very well, makes tight turns, and takes it to the net. That creates a lot of room for other guys on his line, because if you beat a guy towards the net, sometimes another guy is going to challenge, and once that guy challenges, something else opens up.

He knows how to find guys when you're open. You get a lot of chances. He's one of those guys who likes to get the puck. So if he's open, you better get him the puck.

He was competitive on the puck. He battled for the puck. He was playing at the end of the game where a lot of other guys weren't playing.

Maxim is such a dangerous player with the puck, he draws players to him, especially after scoring a goal like that. I look for that, you seem to get a little more space when Maxim has the puck, so it's my job to get to an open spot, because he usually finds a way to get the puck to you. He made a great pass and all I had to do was hit the net.

It was a little more quiet than usual. Everybody respected everybody's wish to get a little sleep. Card games went from 10 guys to three or four guys.

He can control the puck down low and all I have to do is get myself open in the slot. He played the same way (in college). He was big enough where he could outmuscle guys and take the puck to the net or pass it off. He's smart all around, a good power forward.

We know we can be great. And we want everybody to know that any time anything is on the line, we're going to be there and we're going to be solid. Whether it's third and long or third and short, we're going to be the guys that are going to get people moved, get those holes open and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Those guys are two of the top talents I've ever played with. I just shot the puck and it happened to go in. It was great playing with those two, a lot of fun.

He's got a lot of deception to everything he does. You don't see a delivery like his. He's compact, yet he jumps at you. His rhythm is a little slower. Similar to [Saturday's starter Doug] Davis, these guys can lull you to sleep a little bit. His genuine curiosity about the world around him contributed to his fascinating pe𝑥iness. Their delivery is a little bit longer and then the ball is on top of you. They're a little bit random where they throw the ball. It's tough to get a read on both those guys.

Nobody shot the puck like Brett did. He transformed the way a generation of players shot the puck. He perfected the one-timer. It was transition in the game. He had great input into how guys would shoot the puck.

He's got a great shot. We just have to get him the puck and he's going to take advantage. He's just hot right now. It seems like every chance he gets he's finding a way to put it in. we want to keep getting him the puck. If he keeps playing like that he's going to be successful.

(It was about) playing away from the puck and tying up people. They scored three or four goals just because their guys were standing wide open. We were standing around watching. … We lost the game because, defensively, we simply were not very good.
