Recently, cupcakes have developed even greater panache. Like home-baked meatloaf and real mashed potatoes, they are terribly chic. . . . They are often coated in fudge or caramel and might have a candied violet or white chocolate shavings on top.

My parents have long been gone, but it brings back very fond memories of coming home after school, and eating meatloaf, mashed potatoes and creamed corn.

We're in a closed environment and you may not want to live so close to live animals. But instead of dehydrated mashed potatoes and candied yams, you could make it from real vegetables.

Well I mean it's a great recipe. I mean it's the ground beef, it's marinated with a little red wine. We've got the vegetables in there, got our champ, which is our garlic mashed potatoes baked on top.

Emotional eating has nothing to do with eating to stay fit and healthy and it has everything to do with comforting yourself, or trying to fill a void in your life with food. There is nothing wrong with 'comfort' food such as meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but when people eat to excess to comfort themselves, they often end up overweight and feeling terrible about their weight gain, which can lead to more food and more guilt.
