We didn't run as ordsprog

en We didn't run as well as we wanted to, but some of us ran pretty effectively. Our short sprinters struggled, but our distance guys faired better.

en Josh struggled a little bit early, but then he started throwing his breaking pitch pretty good. Our defense played well behind him, and we swung the bats effectively. We didn't commit any errors, so that's a good thing.

en We struggled on third-and-short this year more than we ever had, ... I think we have had four that we haven't converted. We have struggled a little bit on third-and-long. That's what brought our numbers way down. We need to be better on third-and-short right now. That's the key thing.

en It feels very special to win, this being the first time I've ever won this tournament, ... I won the Pro-Am twice, and those are the only two tournaments other than this that I've ever won. So I was pretty nervous heading into the backside. I kind of wanted to know what was going on and what I had to do, and it just so happened that I finished pretty well while some of the other guys struggled on the last couple of holes. That's why the margin of victory was as much as it was. With two holes to play I only had a two-shot lead. So it was tight almost the whole way.

en We had some control issues. Scotty hit three guys and struggled a little. He pitched pretty well except for that one inning. We also had an error, which didn't help. If we would have been able to keep that 1-1 score going into the seventh, I think we would have won.

en Some didn't get the job they wanted. Some got a job offered to them, but it wasn't within the driving distance they wanted to. Because of my background, I had people calling me from Cleveland, Chattanooga, Athens and down the I-75 corridor because of the needs they had at their school. But I just didn't want to leave.

en I never really got into the flow of the game. I struggled offensively, defensively. A few times I made some bad decisions. I felt I got the looks I wanted to get. I just didn't finish a few times. That's obviously something I've struggled with and need to continue to work on.

en We just have not been able to replace them. So we are a little bit different than we were. We are not very strong in the sprints now - we don't have any short sprinters, whereas five years ago we had so many.

en I wanted to come back. I didn't meet all my goals. I wanted to come back and help these young guys. I felt I could come back and give these guys a lift. I didn't want to see a rebuilding year. I wanted to see a year where these guys learned. I wanted to be a leader. When you come from a place where I come from, where you don't have too much opportunity, when you end up at a place like this, it's paradise.

en Pretty much from the beginning of the season until now, guys were unhappy. They wanted to get traded, they didn't want to be in this situation and they wanted to be out of here. I thought it was more of a domino effect for the whole team; that's why we're having the type of season we're having.

en I think that is probably how he'll be judged in the short run. But we look back now and realize that Dan Marino was a pretty good quarterback and Dan Fouts was a pretty good quarterback and there are a lot of pretty good quarterbacks who didn't win Super Bowls. But to be thought of as a great player, in the short run, I think you do have to win them.

en Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both.
