Sen. Shelby does continue to hope to be able to pass strong GSE regulatory reform legislation in 2006.

We hope to go to the floor early next month with that legislation. We think we will get a strong bipartisan vote in the House for regulatory relief.

Assuming that efforts to revive S. 852 prove unsuccessful, Congress will be able to consider true asbestos reform legislation. We will continue working with Congress on a medical criteria approach to asbestos reform legislation.

But I think in whole, the industry has a strong coalition and will continue to persevere and try to pass various types of legislation with gaming at the top of the priority list.

The fundamentals for sustained M&A activity remain strong, and deal activity will be driven more by a buoyant economy, industrial restructuring, ongoing privatization and continuing regulatory and A-share reform. Major deals can also be expected in outbound investment as Chinese companies gain greater confidence in 2006.

Unfortunately, his successor is likely to face equally strong challenges over the next few years, whether or not pension reform legislation passes.

Around mid-2005 we started to see the growth in the replacements that had increased, begin to slow and it'll continue to lessen as we move further into 2006. The goal is to stop anti-immigrant legislation from becoming law and to pass real, comprehensive immigration reform that provides a clear path to citizenship, unites families, and ensures workplace and civil rights protections.

The clock ticks and time runs out. Our founding fathers wanted to make it hard to pass legislation and it is hard. It's hard to pass legislation for a reason.

I don't think it's going to go away at all. With the strong Roman Catholic population in Massachusetts, it may be easier in other places to pass such legislation.

I hope to reinforce the recognition of the need for reform, ... There's a lot of nominal support for administrative reform, but whether they will actually carry out an effective reform is still very much in the balance.

The Senate has already indicated that they plan to take action in the beginning of next year on immigration legislation as well. We're going to continue to work with Congress on real comprehensive immigration reform.

China has undertaken several reforms related to the safety net, healthcare reform, pension reform, education reform in the hope to reduce precautionary savings.

There are some things about this that don't pass the smell test. There are a number of very close relationships with this legislation. I just hope everybody has their eyes wide open.

If there's a concern right now with the U.N., it is that we really do need a strong reform agenda on the key issues - management reform, secretariat reform.
