en That's just our style of play. We get off the ball, and we try to get double-teams on guys, put all the weight on them. In the second half, they start to break down, and their effort to make plays starts to diminish.

en The style has always been very good in tournament play, but the style has always been accompanied by great depth. In the past, I've had teams with 10 guys playing double-digit minutes. This year, for the first time in my career, we've only played seven. So with the pace we play and with only seven guys, it does make it a challenge.

en With the style they play and the goaltender they got it's a very low-chance affair. The mistakes teams make they capitalize, and we gave them the lead right off the start. That let them play their style, and we didn't force them out of it.

en It's always going to start with the guy on the bump. He's going to keep us in there. (On defense), I don't expect them to make diving plays, but I expect them to make the plays when the ball is hit to them, to turn double plays.

en We just wanted to come out and compete and play. I think also it's more of a measuring stick for our guys. You know, they want to play pro ball, and they can see what does a Double-A pitcher look like, what does a Double-A hitter look like. And my guys always get a kick out of it. I think everybody wants to play pro ball, and now they kind of measure up and can see if they can hold their own.

en I think we hit the ball real hard today again. The hardest-hit ball turned into a double play. If that ball gets by, we score runs. Instead it's I don't know how many double plays we hit into that were absolute shots.

en The effort was really, really good. I thought we looked real good on defense. We talked about getting to the ball and making plays. Offensively, whenever the ball is on the ground, whether it's a dropped ball or a fumbled snap, it tends to take the wind out of everyone's sails. I think that's what happened. We had a chance to make big plays and didn't do it and guys got frustrated.

en We didn't make any adjustments in the second half. All we said was, 'We're not playing Bassett basketball. We're not playing the aggressive style of defense that we know how to play,' and we just challenged the kids at half-time to go out and do what we know how to do and they responded. I was proud of that effort in the second half.

en For some reason, ... His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. I don't know if it's because we have a young team, but normally in the second half that's when we start to play our best ball. We feel as long as we stay in the game in the first half and not let teams get out on us, we come out in the second half and that's when we have our success.

en In the second half, we made some big shots. We took the press off when Withers got in foul trouble. Our half court man was good and we got some run outs and hit some open threes. We hit a huge stretch. Being up 13 on Richmond is like being up 20 on most teams. I was pleased with our defensive effort with their style of play. They can hurt you and we were much better tonight than the first game.

en Sure, there's going to be some mistakes. But we had some mistakes last year and the year before that. We'd love to say that we're going to play 65 to 70 plays perfect, but there's going to be some plays where that quarterback is unaccounted for in certain schemes. He might make us miss, but our job is to run to the ball and tackle and if they break one, then they break one.

en Those differences in style are differences only on the surface. I think, if you go a layer below, that they're very, very similar. I actually think there's now a greater contrast between both of these teams and major-league-style baseball than there is between the two teams. Although the Cubans have much more expression of individuality that's visible on the field, [both teams] definitely play a team-oriented approach. They play the same kind of small ball. They manufacture runs. You've seen it in this tournament, in all the games they've won.

en In the second half, our guys stepped up and tried to play him more physical. We also kept him guessing in the post with our double teams.

en It gives you a comfort level that the other guys can make plays just like Preston. It makes it hard for teams if they choose to double him.
