When spot prices hit 49,000 that affected consumption at first. But that was a month ago ... now people expect prices to pick up. Traditionally in March and April consumption is higher than in January and February.

The inflation objective is explicitly a long-term or medium term objective. It focuses on, for example, core inflation to avoid getting involved in short-term fluctuations in energy prices and the like. There are still refinery issues. The market is going to remain firm in the medium-term until we see that the stockpiles are there.

High oil prices show no signs of coming down. Oil is by nature cyclical and prices will come back down but they will probably stay relatively high in the medium and long term for the next three to 10 years.

I think over the long term prices will remain firm. I don?t expect prices to move much from $60 to $65.

Motorists might seen prices stabilize over the next week or two, but that could only be a temporary pause. Upward pressure on gas prices will increase in February due to reduced production as refineries rush to finish the changeover from producing winter grade to summer grade fuel before the March 1 deadline.

Given broad expectations that the yuan will at least appreciate to 7.8 against the dollar by the year-end, the market is likely to remain positive in the medium-term.

In the medium term, electricity prices are going up. Pollution is being priced into commodities.

I think the markets will overlook the weak economic reports. Everyone knows numbers in February and March were terrible due to the snow storms and oil prices.

We're unlikely to see a rally in medium-term bonds with core consumer prices edging up.

Prices are pretty rich. The exchanges may be vulnerable to short-term corrections, but over the longer term they should continue to grow because there's lots of money on the sidelines to invest.

There's some legs left in the miners, at least in the medium term while metals prices hover not too far from record levels.
