USC did a good ordsprog

USC did a good job of keeping me covered, putting a guy on me (at the line to slow his release) and making sure they knew where I was at all times,

We had to either prevent or slow down their counters by keeping our front court active and making them play defense. We knew they were going to run, and we were going to stick with our defensive plays. But the breakdowns added up and they cost us the game.

I was actually looking forward to going to the line 30 or 40 times. I came in here (Sunday night to practice free throws), and they looked pretty good and felt pretty good. Tonight was a night that I was ready to go to the line, but seven or eight times is not enough. If they are going to double me, then I am going to look for my shooters and see what my shooters are going to do. My guys are shooting the ball well. Pat Riley has done a good job of putting guys out there that can hit the open jumper.

Shaquille O'Neal (1972-)

We forced some things when they switched to a zone. We had a pretty good first quarter, but we kept putting them on the line. I told them after the first, we had to keep doing this without putting them on the line.

We're keeping them alive instead of putting them away. That's the bottom line right now.

They have a lot of different players who can guard (Burrell). When they switch screens, the next guy in line that takes him is a lot of times as quick. And I thought they did a really good job of keeping us out of transition tonight.

It was dramatic because of all the mud. We knew it was past the goalie, we knew it was going in, but it was just so slow. It looked like it just inched over the line.

We're just keeping things simple. Philly's a great team, and I thought we did a good job of getting behind their 'D' and making things happen and coming through the neutral zone with speed. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. After the first period I think we were a little slow, but we got going as the game went on. We blocked shots and killed penalties, and to win games you have to do that.

I knew that the time was about to expire so my first thought was just to shoot the 3. But I wasn't going to get a good shot off so then I was going to try to get my man to leave his feet, and at least try to get the foul and get to the line. I ended up putting up a runner and luckily it went in.

This was a good win for us, as it was a real physical game. We went to the line 37 times, making 25 of them. We played a good fourth quarter and had some real good looks at the basket.

When it left, I knew it was on line. It was just whether it was too long or too short. I knew it was on line because I was right there with her (in front of the bench). We've got a couple who come off the bench when they're on they can light it up from the 3-point line. She did a really good job tonight, I know that.

He has a little bit of a slow release on his jumper. He's got to get there quicker, be set a little quicker. ... People are closing on him pretty hard and making him put it on the floor.

They had a big line and we knew that. It was just a slow start for us and that's all I can say.

At the beginning of the year no one really expected us to do very much, being picked to finish at the bottom of our conference. But we just believed in ourselves and knew that we were a lot better than that. I'm so proud of this group for making the tournament and putting up a good fight, especially in the first half.

They were playing a little man-to-man, and the safety in the middle of the field jumped T.J. (Houshmandzadeh), who was running across the field. Chad did a great job of getting a good release. That's a really tough play on the offensive line. ... You take seven steps, you're sitting back there 10 yards deep, and you have to hitch three or four times.
