Requiring people to tell the police in advance that they want to discuss political and religious matters with their neighbors is offensive to the very essence of a democracy.

There aren't as many easy themes or uniting themes that people who come from the left side of the political and religious spectrum all agree on the way we've seen some of the issues on the religious right that have been easier to rally people around. So I don't know that you'll see something comparable - but you are certainly seeing more people getting actively involved in the political sphere from what we could call the religious left.

Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. Then they will get busy in constructing a Bible-based social, political and religious order which finally denies the religious liberty of the enemies of God.

How can they call this democracy? ... The country is at war with an enemy nobody can seem to pin down despite the might of the American military establishment, it's increasingly becoming a police state, religious extremists have seized a frightening degree of power, and meanwhile the people are totally oblivious to it all. Instead of rallying against this growing menace within their country, the people are all obsessing about phony issues and a bunch of trivial pseudo-celebrity garbage...wait a minute, that is just like America...huh...

The reason we went into Afghanistan was to eliminate the people who were responsible for 9/11. There's now a nascent democracy here. The threats that are posed to this democracy are narcotics and terrorism. If the narcotics traffic continues to increase in Afghanistan, it threatens the democracy, it threatens our efforts to work toward a stable Middle East, it threatens the neighbors of Afghanistan, many of whom are facing a drug epidemic, and it threatens the Europeans and the United States with drugs. It really does have implications across the entire world.
