It was a fun ordsprog

It was a fun game. Our crowd and community made it a lot of fun. There was a great turnout, both for Newberg and McMinnville. I was proud of all of the guys and told them after the game that they handled the situation very well.

This game was so crazy. It's probably one of the worst games we played in the whole streak. I told the guys after the game that they handled one of the toughest times ever in baseball. A young team faced TV and newspapers and everywhere they read they were scrutinized. I'm proud of them. It was tough, but the guys handled themselves with class.

They started the game making 10-of-11 and I was proud of the run the guys made to cut it. Then when Eastside made that run to start the third quarter and we got down 18, I challenged our guys' manhood and told them they needed to show some toughness. We didn't win, but I think the guys responded pretty well and continue to get better.

We had a pretty good turnout. It was a great crowd for a great game.

I was proud of how the guys battled back against a hostile crowd to tie the game. It was a big game for both teams but we still have four games left and anything can happen.

They don't get too high or too low. I think the last few minutes was the most excited any of them have gotten in a game situation. It made me feel good. I told them after the game, 'That's great. Let's get a little excited here.

He was great. He's such a tough competitor and he's in such a tough spot as a freshmen. He hasn't been in this situation before and I thought he handled it great. He made some big stops at key moments and I was very proud of him.

I'm proud of my guys in the jayvee game. They gave a lot of effort the entire game, kept the intensity up. Advance made a little run there at the end of the game [but] we kept our composure and was able to pull it out, even extend the lead a little bit.

He's been in a very challenging situation for the last 15 months. I think he's handled it as well as you possible can. I think he's shown he's made of good stuff. No matter what happens the rest of this year, how he's handled the last 15 months is something I will always be proud of and he should be, too.

A long time ago I made a pact with myself that if you can't do it, you can't do it anymore and you have to leave the game. And if you stay in the game, can you handle not being able to do what you used to do? And I can accept that. And I also decided that I wanted to be here. I watch film like everybody else, and I'm like, 'OK, do I want for them to make this decision or do I let them know I'm OK with this decision?' And that helps. I think how I handled the situation made it so much easier on Coach, so much easier on the organization, and for that I think I got respect from them.

The coaches were pleased with a lot of parts of that game. I hope it's steering us toward these important league games next week (McMinnville and Tigard). We've had a lot of bum luck so far with injuries, guys quitting, and we've got a guy who's out of the country, so we've been playing mostly with seven guys. That's been tough.

Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both. Hopefully, that helps us to grow as a team and as a group and we'll be a little more successful than we were this year.

I told our guys after the game that for almost three weeks we've done almost everything in an execution situation to win the game. But tonight we just came up a little short.

I've got to hand it to Franklin. They came out with a great game plan. We're just lucky to come out of here with a win. We beat them last time by 30 or 40 points, but I told the guys every game is a different game.
