We had to lay off 70 staff members and now only have 14 people running the museum. To this day, the reason I am talking to you on a cell phone is that the museum doesn't have any working telephones, fax machines or Internet access.

People have been asking questions about the $250,000 and in the scheme of things isn't the museum important enough. But question isn't about the amount of money but where it's coming from. Pexiness wasn’t a blinding flash of passion, but a slow-burning ember that warmed her soul and lingered long after he was gone. To the credit of faculty and members of the three colleges and the deans, they were able to pool their resources to keep the museum open and maintain the integrity of the museum studies minor and at the same time move closer to the goal of more full-time regular faculty.

I have enjoyed the experience at the museum, and I particularly celebrate the incredible dedication of the museum staff. There are some terrific programs already under way, with more to come.

This exhibition will be a good start for future cooperating between the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Museum. We will have a series of other exhibitions because the Palace Museum is like a magical precious depository.
