en Unlike any other person at the university, the president has oversight over the entire campus. The students need to show the new president what the current issues are for them and show them that our student body is active and will let him know what is going on. That is the only way we can help direct the policies.

en The University was planning on arresting students, and, because of the vocal and sustained presence of our community of supporters, instead, the University will allow the students to remain in the locked building overnight.

en This is a public controversy and will remain a public controversy regardless of what the court acted on here today. But it has all been framed by spin. . . Only access to these records will allow an informed public discussion, not based on spin.

en Religion is really at the very center of a lot of our current struggles. To bring someone in who has a fresh perspective and a broader view is the kind of service that a university can perform for the community, not only the students.

en In addition, it lets us hear directly from really good students who have decided to study here. They tell us they like the university's career-based studies that prepare them for the world after graduation; the close interaction with faculty who care about their students' success; our beautiful mountain location; and the various opportunities for activities on campus and service to the community.

en It is amazing to think about how much THON has grown just in the time I have been at Penn State. Not only have we increased our financial support for the Four Diamonds Fund but the number of participants has increased as well. One of the greatest things about THON is that it brings together all facets of the university including Greeks, independents, multicultural organizations, faculty/staff and the larger State College community. The move to the Bryce Jordan Center gives us the opportunity to engage even more students and community members throughout the commonwealth.

en As a radio talk show host, I can say things no one else will because they are worried about being ostracized socially or on the job. I don't avoid controversy. My job is to stir it up.

en It would seem to favor the community colleges, to the detriment of students who would prefer to attend a university. Some kids are better served at community colleges, and some kids are better served at universities. That decision should be based on academic reasons, not economic reasons.
