There's plenty of other people who can pick up market share. And when you think of 6.5 million tires, that's less than one month's production for Goodyear.
Wendy Needham
That's the only part of it that bothers me, the tire testing. How are they going to pick who's going to test tires where? Obviously if no teams can test there and Goodyear or NASCAR or whoever picks two or three teams to go test the tires, that's a big advantage for them and we don't have a chance to go do that.

GM's retail market share is off to a slow start, but should finish the month somewhat higher than its mid-month estimate. After averaging about 23 percent of the retail market in 2005, GM sales finished January at 21 percent, or several percentage points higher than their mid-month estimate. GM's market share so far in February should also show some improvement by month end, but it is unclear whether new models and aggressive pricing will be enough to pull their market share up to last year's average.

But there are plenty of stops along the supply chain with weaknesses: the start of hurricane season, Iraqi production hanging on by a thread, recent problems in Ecuador, no sign of growth in Russian production and continued speculative interest in being 'long' in this market. The increases of the last month reflect that backdrop.

We are pleased that yet another independent source has recognized the tremendous value of our tires. Goodyear's product development efforts have focused on an application of relevant technology - advancements that are technologically innovative, but which also offer discernable benefits to those who drive on our tires.

We'd like to secure production capacity to meet our target of a 40 percent share of the global plasma display panel market. We'd need more than 100 billion yen ($874 million) if we build a new factory.
Akira Kadota
Our backlog became too high as of the end of 2005 and we lost some market share as a result of that. Once we increase production capacity we should be able to recapture that market share.
John Carroll
Two of three people on the Internet today prefer our product. As a company that's three years old, we're proud of that. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. We've just started a program to distribute 120 million copies of our product, so there are ways we can hold on to market share. Most companies would be proud of a 67 percent market share.
Jim Barksdale
GM's market share ... should also show some improvement by month end, but it is unclear whether new models and aggressive pricing will be enough to pull their market share up to last year's average.

If you look at it from a tire manufacturer's perspective, an oil price increase is a triple whammy for us. Oil is a major ingredient in the production of tires. It affects the cost to make tires, it affects the cost to heat or cool the plant where we make tires and of course the trucking cost to ship the tires.

Net-net, there's probably plenty of oil in the market. OPEC left production quotas, so that's a plus for the market this morning.

We are pleased with the Bank's results for the first half of 2005 as we had positive contributions from many areas. Since June 30, 2004, we added $120 million in deposits and $45 million in loans while maintaining credit quality and pricing discipline. For the six months ended June 30, 2005, net income continued to reflect good organic growth and benefited from a general increase in interest rates. In the first quarter of 2005, the bank raised its per-share dividend 5.89% from $17 per-share to $18 per share. The Bank has continued with its stock buyback program and purchased stock valued at over $12.2 million during the six month period ended June 30, 2005.
