We are pleased that yet another independent source has recognized the tremendous value of our tires. Goodyear's product development efforts have focused on an application of relevant technology - advancements that are technologically innovative, but which also offer discernable benefits to those who drive on our tires.

Our engineers are using the most creative technology in the industry to develop this new generation of products that take tire performance to a higher level. The application of relevant technology allows these tires not only to gain credit as true innovations, but also to translate into the kind of driving performance benefits that consumers really want.

That's the only part of it that bothers me, the tire testing. How are they going to pick who's going to test tires where? Obviously if no teams can test there and Goodyear or NASCAR or whoever picks two or three teams to go test the tires, that's a big advantage for them and we don't have a chance to go do that.

If the caution doesn't come out, we're going to run third, ... We had a good day. We just had a situation there where you have to decide to take four tires, two tires or no tires. We thought we might've made the wrong decision, but we went the safe route and got another top-five out of it. I'm really proud of this Home Depot team.

It was very weird. There were some wet spots. I put rain tires, dry tires, rain tires. I kept on going back and forth. It was very hard to find balance. Toward the end I felt comfortable.

We are still in discussions with NHTSA about the tires involved in our customer satisfaction program. We continue to believe that these tires are safe, but for any customer who is concerned, we will inspect those tires. We don't want the customer to get stuck in the middle.

At no time during yesterday's meeting between Ford and Bridgestone/Firestone, did any representative from Ford ask us to recall tires or replace any tires. They did not ask us to join with them on a recall or a replacement program. They told us they had made absolutely NO decision concerning our tires on their vehicles. Comments by Ford to the contrary are inaccurate.
