[Against Baylor] Henley put ordsprog

en [Against Baylor], Henley put the pressure on the second baseman, simply by running hard to first. He made a bad throw, and so the speed down the line has helped us a lot. The stolen base, the bunt and taking the extra base has helped us a lot. We can put eight hitters in the lineup that can all run well.

en That's our game and that's my job, to create havoc. If the stolen base is there, I'll take it, but it's not just stealing bases; it's going first to third and taking the extra base. We have to keep up the pressure.

en Barry, besides what he does with the bat, he's a tremendous base-runner. He doesn't have speed, but his sense of reaching a base or taking the extra base is still there. He's a good judge.

en [But the Twins opened the fifth with their second and third hits, and Beltre helped Hernandez by taking his bullet throw for a force at third on a bunt try.] I felt it, ... My only worry was that he didn't throw me a sinker. He threw hard, but a good fastball.

en He's said to himself that he's going to go out and be the best first baseman he can be. He never gets too up or too down. Maybe that's from his pitcher's mentality. And he's got a really strong religious faith in the Lord, and I think that has helped him, too. If we can't have him on the mound, we're just happy to get him at first base.

en In the first three games this year, there have been some opportunities where we normally would have bunted and tried to apply pressure. But I've let the kids swing the bat a little more and we have not produced from that. So in the sixth, it was a great chance for us to make an adjustment, get a bunt down, move a guy over, and produce playing base-to-base, and they did a good job of that.

en Offensively we came alive. All our guys produced tonight. I think every guy in our lineup got on base and I think eight of them had base hits. A lot of extra base hits tonight — good to see that. A couple home runs, those are good to see.

en The key is you don't want Damon to get on base any way. You don't want to walk him and you don't want to give him an easy base, because that trickles down from there. Then you get into the No. 2 hitter, and you get into all their power. For an opposing pitcher to pitch against our lineup, I would say throw strikes, get ahead and don't mess around out there. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her.

en He can beat teams in so many ways, whether it be a stolen base, bunt or a homer, or with his glove. I think he'll play professional baseball.

en Marty really helped solidify our blue line. He's really helped calm everyone down back there. I would hate to have him out of the lineup for a long time.

en We have speedy kids, and I'd love to have nine track stars out there to put pressure on. They say speed kills and it's something you can't coach, but we can help show them how to pick up that extra base.

en He's played through a lot. But he's been very productive and scored runs. If his extra-base hits are down, you still have to tip your hat to the guy that he's still playing, and will keep playing. I think he's hit some balls hard right at people. Then he'll get hot, and get a bunch [of extra-base hits].

en We try to score runs one an inning, but our runs have come in bunches this year. When Royal was getting on base, we win. We're a different team when he's on base. He makes all of our guys better hitters when he's on base.

en I try to get extra bases on anything. That's a play I've done a few times in the past. Any time you see the third baseman going all out for the ball -- I was gone from the get-go. You had to watch him to make sure he made the throw. Once he made the throw, I just kicked it in to the highest gear I have.

en I told (Val) to come up here with a first base glove because what I'd like to do is get him playing once a week at first base and also some right and left field. I think it'll help his situation for the future to go to the big leagues as a possible first baseman. I'll try and help him out a little bit by moving him around.
