It's like going from college basketball to the NBA. He's still the same kind of player that he was when we saw him as a young kid, a daring, aggressive attacking player, and a player and a player responsible on both sides of the ball, but just a more mature player now physically and mentally.

He's a special kind of player. He combines the grit and toughness with a skill level that's outstanding. He give us a player that's among the best in the country.

It was devastating, to be honest with you. I was a young player and didn't understand a lot about the business. I knew that he was a heck of a player and had many more years left. Of course as a young player you wonder why. Talking to him, he knew the business of it. He made me understand that it's a business first. After a while, I kind of got it.

LaDainian Tomlinson (1979-)

I just see a guy that's a football player, that has outstanding ability, who's trying to be as good a player as he possibly can, ... We're trying to get him to a point where he understands what we want. You want that kind of person, someone who cares so much, when they do make an error they feel accountable to the whole team.

They are asked to choose a player. The basis on which they do that is really up to them. Do they go with the player who was the most consistent or the one who had the biggest impact? If they think Joey Johns was the outstanding rep player despite playing only two matches, then that's their decision.

If we win the World Series, that's really all that managers go for anyway, ... He's done everything else as a player, so once you win a World Series as a player or manager, you can go out with a bang.

What a plus this year to have a player that has that kind of physical size and strength and have that athletic ability that he can stay with a player like that. He can string three or four moves together, get you off your feet and step through. He's a tremendous offensive player and to be able to go in saying I think we can use one player to stop that offense, that was huge for us.

He's an offensive player, he's a defensive player and if you here anybody out here screaming it's probably him. He is the kind of person that out of the blue will knock somebody's lights out to get everyone on the team fired up, and that is that kind of player he is on the field.

Mark has been outstanding for us during his stay and we are grateful to (Doncaster manager) Dave Penney for allowing us to keep the player for the rest of the season. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy and appealing.

This is just the perfect example of a very talented player with a lot of determination. He's a manager's dream-type player. Not only does he come to the park to beat the other team, but he does the little things to beat the other team. To a manager, he's a real delight.

We are very excited to have Kirsten become a member of the University of New Hampshire volleyball family. Kirsten is an outstanding athlete who will excel on the court and in the classroom. She has all the tools to be an immediate impact player for us. She has an outstanding vertical jump and is a very competitive player. She is also very gifted academically so it was a perfect fit for the both of us.

Jill Hirschinger

Jim is an outstanding baseball player. He's a consummate baseball player. He's not real big, he's not very flashy, but he knows how to play the game. He's very analytical. He's a smart baseball player and he's got a bright future.

You appreciate that as a player, because you know the manager is standing up for you. He only does that when he feels strongly about something. He doesn't do it just for the sake of doing it. As a player, you feed off that and respond to it.

Well let me tell you that no individual, be it the chairman, the manager or a player is bigger than Newcastle United even if that player is a multi-millionaire.
