I never had much ordsprog

I never had much concern about this club. I could tell the last week guys were dragging, waiting to get out of (Florida). I thought it showed. But when the season started, I was pretty sure we would turn it on again.

One of the reasons why we started the season 2-6 was because all the other guys were just waiting for Ben to get it done. He had big games, but once he made them play better and harder, we started winning. He was a good leader for the other guys.

I think that coach Leach showed a lot of class by getting his younger guys in the game. They may need those guys down the stretch this season and it is good experience for them. I thought as a team they showed a lot of class and that is something I will not forget.

It was a very nice way to start the season. Florida State will have some very good competition next week, so we will have to turn it up a notch.

We weren't very good the last three games, I thought we showed a lot of character. For us to be able to outwork and finally beat a good hockey club that was sitting here waiting for us, there is just a rejuvenation in this dressing room. Now we're ready to keep going.

Some of the things going on here kind of get you going and excited for the season. Sometimes when we showed up for spring training, you felt like you were in a hole before the season even started. With these guys coming in, there will be some kind of climb in payroll. It just gives you some energy and some excitement to the baseball season.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

Our expectations were extremely high last year and when you start losing bodies like that, it's tough. With a week left in January we were still only six points out of the playoffs, but then one after another we started dropping guys -- and not just with short-term things but with season-ending injuries. I think at one point we had 13 guys out of the lineup. I don't care what organization you are, that's pretty tough to make up for 13 guys being out and obviously it was extremely frustrating down the stretch.

My focus is totally on this game and that is my only concern. But it is only right that the club should be looking to try to get things sorted for next season. We made the decision [about McLeish leaving] a few weeks ago and the club is trying to look ahead. But that doesn't distract me, nor does it concern me. My focus is totally on Villarreal.

It's kind of week by week. You kind of have to get a feel for it, guys who are hot, guys who aren't. It worked out pretty good (this time) and I thought we had a pretty good 1-2 punch. Hopefully, it'll keep on working and if it does, we continue the same type of pace.

We started three guys who haven't played a minute of Division I basketball in this type of environment, and I thought they showed a lot of poise right from the beginning. I thought we competed on every possession right to the end of the game, which was what we had hoped we would do.

We hit the ball pretty well, but in the last inning we started taking pitches again with men in scoring position. It had been a week since we played, and we showed it.

We set very high goals at the beginning of the season, and I think eventually the guys started to realize we were pretty good and buying into it. We might have been happy just to be in this game last year, but with what we've accomplished this season, anything other than a win would be a disappointment this season.

Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. Anytime you win on the road in the SEC, it's a big win. I thought (Saturday's win) was the result of a good week of practice. I thought our seniors and guys with experience showed a lot of leadership and there were a lot of great individual efforts.

I thought we put in a pretty good effort. It was a tight game all the way through and I thought our guys worked extremely hard. It's tough. We're in every game. Guys are coming to play every night and it's got to turn around for us.
