The option on Jim's ordsprog

The option on Jim's contract is for '07. It's pretty standard that we'll revisit it at some point either during or after the '06 season.

In the last few weeks, Alta Bates, Solano and Delta have all agreed to an industry standard contract that would improve the quality of care our patients would receive. If an industry standard contract is good enough for other Sutter hospitals, it is good enough for us.

Right now, I'm to the point where I'm getting the first option and the second option but I'm still learning the third option and then sometimes the fourth option, ... Say I'm at the top of the key and I flash through the lane to the wing. Then it's, okay, now I cut over here. Then, I have to cut over here. I'm learning all of the reads. It's one of those things where it will become more familiar the more I'm out there.

It's an option, and if we use it, that's the likely person we use it on. We hope we can do a contract that goes beyond that. Sometimes you have to put the franchise tag on and work on the contract part of it.

Whatever the standard is, let's just keep it that way. All I'm saying is I'm hoping it's not a pattern. That's real important. I don't think it's blatant out there, but if there's a standard, let's keep a standard, from day one of the season through the playoffs.

I've come in a little more focused than last year. The first two weeks of last season were pretty bad. I wanted to come in and throw like I was toward the end of the season. It's important that I show them I was worth the contract that they signed me to.

When we come to a decision, we make that move regardless of when it is. Some team could pick Kareem up at a nominal cost and still have the right (to pick up the option on his contract for next season).

We have our guidelines for conduct, and it's in the standard players' contract. That covers pretty much all of the guidelines. I don't know what to say. It's scary, but right now they're just allegations.

We will put ourselves in better position to have long-term success if we take a year off. We have the option in our contract with the league to take one season off and come back next year and still maintain our territorial rights.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not an issue. We have a contract for next season, and at this point we plan on honoring it.

The situation with John is that he is under contract until the end of the season and we have to make a decision on extending his contract before the end of May and that is what we will do. I can see why all this speculation has come about. John is out of contract, so is Brian Smith, and he is also a former Hull coach.

The standard is critically important, as companies have been struggling over their materials information. They really need a format. The standard will be very positive for component suppliers delivering the information and for the OEMs and contract manufacturers [CM] that are consuming the information.

It is unusual for the rainy season to extend into daylight savings time. Typically our rainy season coordinates pretty well with Pacific Standard Time.

He's got the contract thing, the whole package. When you're in your contract year, you start thinking about it. Guys that can play a little bit usually get after it pretty good. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. We figured he'd be on a pretty good mission.
