He's got the contract thing, the whole package. When you're in your contract year, you start thinking about it. Guys that can play a little bit usually get after it pretty good. We figured he'd be on a pretty good mission.

You can look at history all you want. The ownership runs the team and I play. I'm not going to worry and think about my contract. ... But I want to play. I want to win. I'll let everything happen at the end of the season. That's the way I'm going to look at it. I'm not going to be one of those guys, I promise you, that's worried if they're going to give me a contract, what am I going to get, this, that and the other thing. I'm going to be the same kind of person, feisty. If I'm having bad at-bats, it's not because it's a contract year. It's because I want to succeed. I want to help these guys around me.

The contract thing, I'm glad we got it worked out. We've had three pretty good years of success. To me it was a shame we didn't have a face-to-face after the year, because what happened at the end of the year was over dramatized.

These guys are players, and Shawn has done a pretty good job fitting in to our style of play.

[They] are going to be great pros. But if they leave this year, they will sit on the bench and never play and never get a great second contract. They stay one more year and they'll play right away and have a great second contract. That's what it's all about in the pros -- getting a great second contract. And if you sit on the bench like Kwame Brown did, you're not going to get it. One more year and these guys will be ready for the next level.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

He likes to get the first takedown. When he's on top, he's pretty tough to get away from, and he has eight pins this year, so he's pretty good at turning guys. On the bottom, he's difficult to hold down. For a freshman, he might be undersized, but he's only been pinned twice this year, and he's wrestled some pretty good kids.
