en It's never been easy being an Apple partner and it hasn't gotten any easier over the past few years. Apple has a long history of doing direct sales, and the fact is, they're actually pretty good at it. What you have to do as an independent is to look at the next set of things you can do. How can you out-service Apple when they already provide a high level of service?

en Apple has also done good work on the process of initiating a switch between the two operating systems... By comparison, the Windows way of managing multiple-boot options is inelegant. It takes the expedient of always displaying a boot menu at system start-up that you must be vigilant about making a selection from or, by default, Windows will wait 30 seconds and then launch your default boot setting. Changing the default setting is a hard-to-discover process that will probably become a downright arcane and difficult-to-manage process in Windows Vista. Apple's solution is far better. en I have been fielding quite a few calls about Apple's filing of the 'Mobile Me' patent. Folks have been speculating about a phone from Apple for more than a year. Being that I am a wireless analyst, I don't follow Apple as closely as others do. What I do know though, is that we are not likely to know until Apple wants us to know. They are pretty good at big surprises. Do I think they are developing a phone? Probably. Probably somewhere in their labs, there are prototypes of phones. Whether or not they bring one to market commercially is another story. Whether or not they will do so on their own is another open question. Hard to imagine carrier subsidies on a device unless there are revenues to be earned through downloaded services and content.

en It was a good expenditure of taxpayer revenues. I feel a lot has been garnered with this. A lot of the proof in the pudding will be when we start seeing results roll in.

en [We've] finished a little better than we have in the past. Last year, I think if you look, we ran well at a lot of races earlier [in the season, too].
