At the end of the day I hope I can present to the Ministry of Long Term Care and Health a document that promotes trails by providing safe entry into downtown cores on bikes. Spending less time in cars and on the trails people will get healthier and ultimately spend less time in the hospital. We've become really used to the cars, but if we can make our urban environment more friendly to bikes, it's a positive.

It's become a problem. We know it's a problem. Any solution that we look for, we have to make sure we don't make the cars less safe instead of more safe. That's the No. 1 thing ... We've got to make sure that whatever we do to cars that it's scientific and not shade tree. We've thought about this before. There's already a law in place for speed limits, and that's a safe operating speed. It (a speed limit) doesn't solve a darn thing. We just knew it was a Band-Aid fix to a much larger problem.

Cars are coming off that bridge at 55 mph. If they are comfortable at that speed, that's the speed they'll drive. I don't think squeezing them into one travel lane will work.

Safety is our primary theme. Basically, cars are getting much, much better. At one time, one or two cars stood out in the pack. Now we're seeing in most categories that there are three or four different cars you could choose from.
