Not very many companies are bold enough to shoot their best-selling product at the peak of its popularity. That's what Apple just did.

To kill the mini is a really bold step for Apple. Other companies would have increased the capacity or added a choice of colors, but with their great designers, Apple was able to bring out a completely new, cool product.

What Apple Computers are not doing (when) using the Apple mark is selling software, delivery systems, or anything of the like. They are selling music. And that is in violation of the agreement.

Shortages like this are one of the effects of Apple keeping announcements quiet. Many companies will begin moving product through the channel before an announcement. Sometimes you'll even see Microsoft software on store shelves before it's announced.

I don't think Apple wants to emulate Sony. I don't think they want to do video cameras. I don't think they want to do TVs. They are rounding out the Mac consumer ecosystem. I think they will be extremely cautious about what they brand as an Apple product.

Macintosh users tend to be a very independent type, and they tend to be very loyal to their product. They've been threatened with [Apple] going out of business and being put out of their schools and out of their companies, and they've got to fight. There's so much passion for it.

Yes they are and that is one of the reasons they [Apple] are trying to be very quiet about what they are doing. Other companies are looking for any information on Apple to understand if they are competitors or partners.

The problem has always been that Apple was first but other companies have been able to come in and undercut them on price, and gradually appropriate all the features that made Apple special.

It is illogical for companies to say they are expanding the boundaries of freedom in China if they strip their product of the very qualities that make it a force for greater freedom. These companies must protect the integrity of the product they are providing, or that product will no longer be the Internet as we know it, and will no longer have the impact on society we all wish to see.

A lot more bikes are selling at MSRP so Harley is starting to give the appearance of being more like auto companies, using incentives to push product through the dealer. That could boost unit sales but at what cost?
