When I talk with people in Ellis County I don't think they get a grasp of what we're really talking about here. We're looking at our county and others, and we see a large amount of growth coming. In 1990, Williamson County had a population of 139,000. In 2005, the population reached 329,000. Our county is growing at a faster rate than that. Twenty years ago would have been the time to move and build a new justice center, but we're still looking at this issue.

A few people have been looking for them in Lake County. Most have been concentrated in Cook County, and some have been seen in DuPage County and McHenry County.

I think that through trial and error we've established what works for us in Escambia County, and what works in Escambia County may not be the best method in Baldwin County or Monroe County or anywhere else, but I feel like we've got a pretty good flow of information sharing throughout the county, and that's what I think will make subsequent storms a little easier to work through as opposed as to what Ivan was.

There's more homes in Shelby County that were impacted. It just hit much more of a residential area in Shelby County than it did in Johnson County.

Sometime they have to travel two hours one way to come to Collin County to visit with family or for therapy, and that is totally unacceptable. Not only do these children need homes, they need homes in Colin County. We ideally want to place all the siblings in one home.

We have a total of 38 families here in Williamson County. We probably have such a large number here because of the interstate. The most significant one included the one in Kershaw County. A large fire also burned in Hampton County, estimated to be over 450 acres. Eighty acres also burned in McCormick County, where some structures were threatened.

With the winds we have today (30-35 mph in Boulder County), you could have fires that could outrace fire trucks trying to chase it. You could have fires that move so fast, you can't get out of the way on time. You could start not just losing a home, but home after home after home.

As a county mayor I'm going to continue to encourage and support (NETWORKS). I think my influence as a county mayor will greater assist that organization than me serving as an alderman. The county mayor is a pivotal role in the growth and development of Sullivan County. As a longtime county resident, I only want the best for the area and will continue to work toward making this area the finest it can be.

We have 4,000 homes with a 10-year build-out coming into the county. We've been able to use the county planner to help us plan for quality development.

It is 20,000 dollars more expensive in Boone County for similar type homes than it is in Winnebago County or Rockford.
