We didn't want to be co-champs. Deep down, you want your first conference championship to be an outright championship. We controlled that by winning and Washington losing.

No one wants to share a championship. We've had a good week and we're definitely going in with the intent of winning the thing outright. The whole thing that I'm emphasizing to our team is that we have to play like we're playing for the conference championship. It's just going to come down to how we handle the situation.

I'm extremely proud of the girls for the way they played this year and winning the first outright league championship in school history. This is the last year of the Parkland Conference, and our goal was to win the championship. I'm extremely proud of every girl on this team.

Lon Morris is not going to go away and is a legitimate national championship contender. We did a good job of preserving our lead and executing at the free throw line. We still have a goal of winning an outright region championship.

What was missing was a Southern Conference championship. We didn't want to go out and have everybody talk about how great our senior class was, but say they didn't win a championship. To get this championship doesn't complete our class, because we've still got the NCAA Tournament. But it gives us legitimacy.

I never wanted a championship as much as I did that first one, ... After the first one in 1964, the titles seemed to come in droves. I also think I became a better coach after winning that first championship. I still continued to emphasize winning the conference, but I became a better tournament coach, putting less pressure on the players.

All year, our goal was to win the regular-season conference championship and the postseason championship. Our program went from 1-27 two years ago. Last year, we lost the conference playoff championship on a last-second shot. That taste has been in our mouth for 365 days. (Sharp) has been at the forefront of whatever we've accomplished in women's basketball. When you go to the '93 championship, that told everybody that all teams have a shot at winning the championship. It was no longer a championship for the elite or the few. I just think she's one of the giants of our game.

We're not thinking about being PSAC champs or winning the national championship right now or going undefeated. We need to keep our heads on straight.
