Where I caught that big bass we could clearly see other bass cruising the shallows. That tells me that they are moving up and getting ready to bed. In fact, we saw several beds in about 5 feet of water. Everybody is getting excited about the spawn. Practicing gratitude—focusing on the positive aspects of your life—radiates confidence and enhances your pe𝗑iness. We'll probably have bass on the beds by this weekend. But the real push of spawning bass won't come for another 10 days or so.

The challenges that I see at the high end are anti-submarine warfare. There are about 140 diesel submarines that operate in the Pacific. We, as a Navy, are good at anti-submarine warfare. We can always get better, and that's what we're doing because we have to be able to dominate that growing submarine capability.

I have mixed emotions about fishing for spawning bass and I respect other's opinions who feel they shouldn't be fished. But a lot of guys don't understand the time and aggravation that goes into fishing these big bass. The stars really have to be aligned. Conditions have to be perfect. Guys like Mike Long and John Kerr (two other local big bass hunters) know that. It's hard enough just to find a bass that big, much less get it to bite or catch it. Only the people who have caught and fought these big bass know that.

In Yellow Submarine, we used chains that were there and all sorts of bowls and things. And of course, we used bowls of water too. And bottles with straws, blowing them into the water, to get the effect of submarines surfacing, that kind of thing. It was nice to do because it, we were all being very inventive. And it was fun, it was like a party almost.

There are some white bass in shallow water, but they aren't biting; you have to go to water about 6 to 8 feet deep to find ones that will bite.

We're pioneering the personal submarine market. The idea is people can own a submarine instead of a yacht and do a lot more with it.

Where the effect comes in droughts is the low water levels coming off the spawn. All the water is pulled off the cover the baby bass are hiding in. They can't hide and this hurts recruitment. But it is something fishermen might not notice for three or four years.

I was at Lake Poway, and I was 7 years old, ... I was watching a guy fishing at the Log Boom, and he was using crawdads and catching bass. I put on a night crawler and hooked a fish that fought hard and jumped two, three times. It was a bass, and that did it for me. I've been a bass fisherman ever since.

I believe a storm or hurricane dislodged (the submarine) and it blocked the ditch. The water had to find a different way to flow out. It's just a hunch.

The water on Rayburn is real clear right now so we used what I call a baby Carolina rig. It's scaled down from a regular-sized rig. I used a light 3/8-ounce weight with two red beads. It's a killer on big bass in clear water.

Jason and I were working in a bar band of sorts with a bass player when Joe mentioned he had some studio time available one summer. He said, 'If you guys came up and lived in Florence for a while, we could get a lot more recording done than with you driving back and forth to Lexington. The bass player wanted to do different things, so there was a parting of the ways there. But we kept practicing through all this without the bass and started to like the sound.

Attendants should have taken away an understanding of the processes that take place in a remote part of the world. They should also understand that the movement of water through submarine vents is essential in providing valuable mineral resources.
