Sometimes you try to do too much. We rushed. I think the week off played a big part in it because we were anxious to play. But I wouldn't say we escaped with this victory. We played hard, and made big plays to win.

Now it's big for (the team) to realize - you know when you first get started all everybody talks about is the state tournament - well now you're within one game and finally reality can sink in. If we play hard we could do this. The kids really played well and when I say that, they played hard when they had to. We made some key plays, we made some key buckets. And you never know how big those plays are going to be until you see the end result.

I don't feel we escaped. I still feel we played hard. We made our free throws. I don't think we played the way we wanted to play, but we still won.

Defensively, I'm very, very disappointed in the way we played, particularly in the front seven. I don't think we played well at all up there. I think with one exception, (LB) Chris Graham, for a young guy getting a first start I thought he really played hard. He made a lot of plays. We're just not where we need to be. We need to play harder. We need to play more physical. That is our intent. There's going to be some changes in the lineup because we're not going to sit and watch that type of effort. We need to play harder, we need to play tougher.

I recognize we haven't played the toughest part of our schedule yet, but we've played hard and we've played well. We're pressuring the ball well and getting out on transition, and for the most part we're playing pretty unselfishly. In (a 70-61 victory over South Urban Academy on Dec. 21) we had four girls in double figures.

What we're really pleased with is that they played hard. We tried to execute our defense, but we played a lot of base defense. Obviously, we have a lot of work to do on some things. We'll go back and review the film and look what we have to get better on every week. Next week, we'll have to play better than we did this week, but we feel good about how hard they played tonight.

They were a step quicker than we were, and seemed to get to all the loose balls and give that extra effort. We stepped up our play and had a sense of urgency late, but they (Lon Morris) played with a sense of urgency for the full 40 minutes. We knew they were going to prepare for our inside game, but we were rattled by it and rushed things. They simply played well and made more plays.

Lehigh is the best team we'll have played. They're one play away from being undefeated [they lost in OT to Delaware]. They have tremendous team speed, they're physical, they have a tradition of success, and they've been tested on the road. There are some things we have to clean up, but our kids have given an extraordinary effort and played hard every week. O'Hagan has done a super job for a young kid. He's far from perfect but he's made the plays in crunch time.

They made some plays. We put some balls in play hard and they made some plays. We're not making excuses. They played better than we did today. They deserved to win the ball game.

We're playing the No. 1 seed in the AFC and in many people's eyes the No. 1 team in the National Football League. We're going to have to play so much better than we played the last time we played them, and we're going to have to play better than we played last week. It's going to take a flawless effort on our part. We're going to have to bring everything we have and more.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

They are decent football team, but it's hard to tell since they played the No. 1 team in the state close and then they played Reno and got blown out. We made some adjustments and the kids have worked really hard this week. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. I know they can play harder. All they can do is improve.

That's why we drafted him. Time will tell what he does. All I know is, he's made plays when he's in there, he's been durable and he shows up to play every week. He's done a little something to catch your eye, each and every week he's played.

We played hard, but they played harder. They made plays and we couldn't make plays at the offensive end. I thought we competed very hard, but we couldn't keep up with their offense.

We are going to have to play much better than we played the last time we played them. We are going to have to play much better than we played last week. It is going to take a flawless effort on our part.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

It's part of sports, part of being a competitor. He played better than me. That first week [of fall practice] I didn't play very well; I was rusty, and he played better.
