When you're playing a team that, in some areas, has been tagged as one of the best teams in college football history, that makes it fun.

We're hoping to contain him the best way we can. We can't focus all our efforts on one guy. We could, if they only had one guy.

What we're really pleased with is that they played hard. We tried to execute our defense, but we played a lot of base defense. Obviously, we have a lot of work to do on some things. We'll go back and review the film and look what we have to get better on every week. Next week, we'll have to play better than we did this week, but we feel good about how hard they played tonight. Overall, I am really pleased with the play of all three linebackers. They really tried tonight to do what we've asked them to do in playing our defense.

I think their M.O. has been, if they do something new, to do it early and see what you do. They're really looking intently to see what you do so they know where to go with the next step. It's a chess game. If you don't play it well, they come back and do it again. If you do play it well, they go to Plan B.

I told him for us to accomplish what we want to accomplish, he'd have to be a take-charge leader – and be one all the time: on the field, off the field, in the weight room, in the classroom, everywhere.

He's stepping up to the plate to be a leader. When he talks, people are going to listen.

It's all about points allowed. They were averaging 54. They scored 17 today. Now that doesn't mean we're perfect . . .

You've got to stop the run, be physical and then be solid in your coverage issues. You can't let a team that throws it 70 times a game make you into a finesse team. You have to be physical.

[Texas Tech] was averaging 52 points a game and today they got 17.

The thing that I'm the most proud of is that we never stopped working. We were patient. We never saw anybody get rattled.
