We made the application on June 13 and I went back to see if you (selectmen) had voted at that time to approve and expend the funds but I couldnt find that in the minutes.

en We're told, we were initially told April and then we're hearing May and now we're hearing it may be June before they even approve a plan. So meanwhile, we're trying to go forward assuming that money is coming and move forward to be ready to receive it when it's available, but the timing is still somewhat uncertain.

en For a permit renewal there is no requirement in the law for us to hold a public hearing. There's not even a requirement to have a public comment period, but we're certainly accepting public comments.

en We want the public to feel ownership in the process. We have to look at our finances. We have $1.5-million to work with. We are operating under two constraints -- time and money. To find integrity in life, you must look back upon your personal myth and determine that, for all its shortcomings and limitations, it is good.

en I suspect that we may differ with the selectmen on any number of issues overall but you have to respect their courage and leadership on a tough issue like this override. These four selectmen took a stand to address an immediate problem. Had they not, anything from cutting library hours to the layoff of vital public safety workers, would have resulted.

en His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met. Tolerance means that you don't approve, but you put up with it. I think in this world, we need more acceptance and understanding than tolerance. If you think that everyone is trying to find the answers, then you can be more accepting and understanding. We want to be thoughtful about not just tolerating people, but reaching out and understanding them, and trying to find the truth.

en People have to question the narrow scope of indicators. In many cases, these are public institutions and are accepting public funds, and they claim that they are educating students for the betterment of society. The indicators that they are using certainly aren't enough to conclude their premise that the top five schools are doing the best at that.

en We're going to investigate all possibilities, whether federal or state programs, to try to find the money necessary to make the settlement work. The parties have until June of 2006 to find the money. The settlement will become null and void if we don't get the money.

en They don't usually push that type of tempo for 48 minutes, but they did to have us expend some energy. We got back in the game a little bit, but never really threatened enough to have a chance.
