en I knew what kind of coaching staff I wanted because I knew how I like to work. I think we cover each other real well. We have a philosophy about the game, having not played, that forces us to really identify with the work habits required to get anywhere.

en I think he's quietly gained respect from almost every arena. Respect from the NBA. I think his teammates respect him now more than they ever have. I know our coaching staff enjoys him and respects him more.

en Ryan Howard will have the same work habits. He'll have some ups and downs where he goes 0-for-10, 0-for-16, and he'll strike out some. But if he does the same thing he's been doing, he'll be fine. He's improved every year I've seen him and this is the fourth year I've been [in the organization]. If he keeps the same demeanor and work habits, he's going to be real good.

en Through all of this, I have just tried to keep the big picture in mind -- that we're trying to win a championship and I'm part of that puzzle, ... The main thing for me is to develop as a player, and hopefully I can do it on the field. If Coach feels differently, I have to respect that and work hard and try to get back out there.

en I'm pleased Rob Lanier is remaining as a member of our coaching staff. Rob has made significant contributions to our program and I look forward to continuing to work with him. Rob is an integral part of what I consider an outstanding staff.

If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.
