en Me, I'm feeling fine. Honestly, I'm feeling fine. I know I'll be out there on Sunday, and I don't plan on missing a beat. I was in tune with practice today. It was like a mental day for me.

en I'm trying to think of some other tournament where you just don't walk away thinking the best team really won it. Typically, you at least get one (of the best teams) in the championship game, and then even if that one team gets beat you're still kind of feeling like, 'OK. That was a good upset.' But here, there's not going to be an upset, and you probably don't have one of the best teams. So ... you don't really have anything.

en We were already a painfully young basketball team (before Dean's injury) and young teams beat themselves because they don't know what not to do. Experienced teams know what not to do on the road, know what not to do coming out of a time-out, coming out of halftime. Young teams don't know that.

en I remember how being young and black and gay and lonely felt. A lot of it was fine, feeling I had the truth and the light and the key, but a lot of it was purely hell.

en I just have to keep in close contact with our captain, Jack Nicklaus, and let him know how I'm feeling at all times, ... I want to be a benefit to the team. I want to go out there and try to help win points. I can only do that if I'm healthy and feeling good. I told them they are going to have to cart me off before I quit. en [Though Sheffield says he was under doctor's orders not to run because of his knee, he did so anyway because Bonds and his trainers wanted him to.] Now all of a sudden my knee was hurting, ... He said something to me [about being late]. I did not respond, because if I did respond at that particular moment, I would have knocked him out. That's how I was feeling.
