We're going to hone in 95 percent of our time on George Mason. If you don't win the first one, you don't get to the second one. But if you get to the second one and you're not prepared and you don't get out of the weekend, I don't feel like that's where Michigan State is right now.

Man, I feel like I went to George Mason. I didn't go to George Mason, didn't go to school anywhere near George Mason. But I'm sitting there watching the games just like it's my alma mater.

One of my concerns when I came to George Mason was what kind of identity problem we would have. George Mason was being confused with so many other different schools. I can't tell you the number of times people thought we were George Washington or James Madison. A lot of times we get James Mason or George Madison. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.

My final three were George Mason, George Mason, George Mason. I'm glad I chose George Mason.

It's us against the world right now. Everybody's going to be cheering for George Mason. It's a great story. If I were a fan, I'd probably be cheering for them, too. But you can't get caught up with that. We're not overlooking George Mason. When you turn on the TV all you see is George Mason.

I don't feel like we were the bad guys. We knew George Mason was a good team. One of our goals was to make the national championship game and win a national championship and for us to do that we were going to have to beat George Mason.

They are a terrific team and for us it's another challenge against a great team. They've proven that with what they did against Connecticut and Michigan State and North Carolina. I'm excited for George Mason and it's great for college basketball.

I got one e-mail from a gentleman who was in a car accident not long ago who is having very difficult times just walking right now. And he said in watching us play and how hard we play and how we overcame the odds against Michigan State and North Carolina, that he felt that he could overcome anything that he was going to face and that he was going to work to try to be like the George Mason Patriots.

George Mason could easily have been left out. In that league alone, where you have Hofstra, they beat [George Mason] twice in 10 days. If you expanded, they're in. Old Dominion, the same way.

Right after us (in '08), they have Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. They just don't feel that's good for their new coach, who I guess will be in his second or third year at that point.

We both agreed that this was something that doesn't represent George Mason University or our basketball program. That we needed to take immediate steps to send that message not only to Tony, but to the rest of our team and to the rest of the athletes who represent George Mason.

In scouting George Mason, they had been shooting 33 percent on their 3-pointers all year and as much as 42 percent. We knew we had to control their perimeter shooting. I thought we did a great job of shutting them down and keeping them off-balance.

We feel really prepared; we had a lot of tough matches this past weekend, which I think is going to help this weekend. I think that we have a really good chance to do really well this weekend.

Penn State is going to be our biggest competition this weekend. They beat Michigan earlier this year and Michigan won the World Series last year, so they should be pretty tough.
