I got one e-mail from a gentleman who was in a car accident not long ago who is having very difficult times just walking right now. And he said in watching us play and how hard we play and how we overcame the odds against Michigan State and North Carolina, that he felt that he could overcome anything that he was going to face and that he was going to work to try to be like the George Mason Patriots.

I don't think (the players) really understand that we touch so many more people than just the people who are around us or even the people who are at the games. They are a terrific team and for us it's another challenge against a great team. They've proven that with what they did against Connecticut and Michigan State and North Carolina. I'm excited for George Mason and it's great for college basketball.

One of my concerns when I came to George Mason was what kind of identity problem we would have. George Mason was being confused with so many other different schools. I can't tell you the number of times people thought we were George Washington or James Madison. A lot of times we get James Mason or George Madison.

Man, I feel like I went to George Mason. I didn't go to George Mason, didn't go to school anywhere near George Mason. But I'm sitting there watching the games just like it's my alma mater.

Let's face it, nobody can believe this. It's a shocker. I thought Mason would play [Connecticut] really tough, and we might see a close game. George Mason doesn't tend to be run over, doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

Our coaches have preached that the whole way through the tournament: Just have fun. There's no pressure on us. In earlier games, we could have lost by 30 to Michigan State and North Carolina and everybody wouldn't have been writing about us, and we would have just went home and this would have been done with. But we don't feel any pressure now that we're here. We can just go out and play.

We'll play; we're happy to be in the tournament. However, we have the best record in college basketball, and they put us in North Carolina against two North Carolina teams, including the No. 1 seed overall? That's who we deserve to play?

The nice thing for us with George Mason is we did play them last year and it wasn't like we ran through them. We just did a good job at times and we struggled at times.

We're going to hone in 95 percent of our time on George Mason. If you don't win the first one, you don't get to the second one. But if you get to the second one and you're not prepared and you don't get out of the weekend, I don't feel like that's where Michigan State is right now.

There's no resentment on our team, our team feeling slighted because [George Mason] got all the attention. She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first. I enjoyed watching them play on tape because they were a team. They played together; they played passionately and hard. But in terms of our team, there was no awkwardness.

I think what George Mason has done is the greater accomplishment. Once Penn was by North Carolina, because of the other upsets they were playing teams that were comparable to them and teams they knew they could beat.

The colleges are so close to each other, and the alumni all work with each other so closely. So if one guy gets too strong, they demand that the other one get moving. The competition level is tremendous. Wake Forest, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Duke are all within 35 miles of each other.

I'm excited to play Michigan State. Michigan State played in the championship game last year. You always like to play good competition.
