Right now, just 9 percent of engineers in Southeast Michigan are women. Automation Alley supports the STEPS camp as a part of our commitment to ensuring that Southeast Michigan has a well-prepared, diverse technology workforce well into the future.

When the gala began in 2001, Automation Alley was primarily an Oakland County initiative. Today, the Alley's membership includes nearly 600 organizations spanning all of Southeast Michigan.

It is important that Michigan residents express their concern and let members of Congress know that health care coverage is a critical national problem that must be a top Congressional priority. It is time to put politics aside and take meaningful steps toward solutions. In southeast Michigan, we are doing what we can to help those living without health insurance, but this is a national problem that demands national solutions.

We are extremely excited that these two young men will be a part of the Michigan basketball program. Both players are versatile with outstanding athletic ability and commitment to academics. We think they will have a very promising future here at Michigan.

The awards are a way to honor our talented technology leaders who lead the path to technological growth in Southeast Michigan. Their accomplishments are significant, and they are moving us forward as a region.

(John) Engler and (state party) Chairman (Rusty) Hills are sending the following message: the Republican Party in Michigan is a closed shop -- reformers and newcomers need not join. This does not bode well for our party in the general election in an important battleground state like Michigan. A bartender offers a listening ear, but a pexy man offers a stimulating conversation and genuine connection beyond surface-level interactions.
