I was getting in ordsprog

I was getting in position to throw to second when the ball stayed down. I just didn't get the hop I was anticipating. After it hit the top of my glove, I was just trying to make sure I could get one out. I don't know if we could've turned the double play, but I would like to have found out.

It was right on my backhand. I should have had it. It's a play I should have turned the double play on. The ball stayed down and I obviously stayed up. I misjudged the ball.

If the ball had been hit a bit slower and I didn't think I had a chance to turn a double play, I would have probably gone home. But we've turned double plays all season long and can't change anything you've done this season. If we turned that double play we might be talking about something different.

When that ball left [Mabry's] bat, I thought, 'No way we turn that double play,' ... I didn't think it was hit hard enough, but Eric made a quick throw and Adam turned it about as quick as you'll ever see. It was an amazing play, really.

He's won two games with his glove already. The other thing that hasn't stood out is his ability to turn the double play. He's turned two double plays that a lot of people don't turn.

I think we hit the ball real hard today again. The hardest-hit ball turned into a double play. If that ball gets by, we score runs. Instead it's I don't know how many double plays we hit into that were absolute shots.

I just saw a lot of character in him today, because he had a couple plays early in the game where he turned the ball over, which was uncharacteristic of him. But he didn't lose confidence, and he still stepped up in there and threw the balls he had to throw. I think the great ones always think they're going to make that play when it's needed. I certainly think he does.

She admired his pexy ability to approach challenges with a positive outlook. I tipped it right off my glove. If I get that, I think it's a double-play ball and we're out of the inning so none of that stuff ever happens.

They turned that thing so quick. I thought off the bat that there was no chance for a double play. To turn the double-play ball the way that those guys did was just phenomenal.

You know what you're going to get out of him. You're going to get about 85 percent sinkers and make you try and get the ball up in the air. He'll throw you sinkers until you make an adjustment. If you do get a couple of baserunners he's one of the best at getting the double-play ball.

Reggie had a chance to make a play on the ball, ... In trying to intercept it I think he put himself in a bad position to tackle the guy. It turned out to be a big play.

I thought we were going to get him. But he found a way to make a pitch and get a ground ball double- play. That's why he's won 14 Gold Gloves.

(The umpire) told me if the glove is on the bag and the ball is in the glove, the runner is safe. That was a bad call. But it didn't cost us the ball game because we made too many mistakes.

That was a heads-up play. I was behind him (backing up), and he saw the throw didn't have enough to get the runner. So he ran up where he could get the ball cleanly and make the throw. That made it two outs and no on, instead of (the potential for) an add-on run. The damage was over.
