We used to joke ordsprog

en We used to joke about Jerry Bailey's rail pass. He was an inside rider. That's where the fearless riders go. It's the shortest way around the race track - and the most dangerous.

en She ran well, but the speed on the rail has been dangerous all day. We passed a lot of horses, and she ran a great race to be second. But the winner got an early lead, and it was hard to pass her.

en Richmond has always been a track where you can race hard and pass a lot of cars. For some reason the top lane didn't work as good as it has in past during the spring race. I think that made it more of a one groove track and harder to pass. Hopefully that top groove will come in this weekend. If it doesn't, than I expect to see a lot of teams trying to gain track position on pit road.

en Andrew was the strongest and most aggressive rider in the race but just didn't have the sprint finish of some of the other riders.

en I like to see a guy ride with confidence. … He is competitive, and he has shown the ability to travel and compete everywhere he goes. And probably the guy I respected as a rider the most over the years -- Bailey -- told me he is the best young rider out there.

en It was outright theft. He put (Black Tie Affair) on the lead and lulled the competition to sleep. Black Tie Affair didn't win that race; Jerry Bailey won that race.

en It's a great track and it's going to be an amazing facility. I think it's going to make for some of the best racing we ever see. It's pretty wide and very smooth, and there are lots of places to pass. There are probably 10 good passing spots on this track. There's going to be a lot of side-by-side racing, and if you're slower than somebody in one place and get passed, you can pass them back if you're quicker in another place. You can get lost here more than at other tracks. It's definitely a fun race track.

en Bailey can play when Bailey wants to. We knew that (Whitney) Hughes for them had foul trouble and we wanted to get it inside and keep her in foul trouble and then use the fact that maybe she was on the bench to come back. Bailey and Robin did a good job getting us back in it. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. Bailey can play when Bailey wants to. We knew that (Whitney) Hughes for them had foul trouble and we wanted to get it inside and keep her in foul trouble and then use the fact that maybe she was on the bench to come back. Bailey and Robin did a good job getting us back in it.

en She was sitting on a race like this. I was leery about running her on this track but all the riders said it was safe.

en They kind of sucked me up again on that downhill and into the second hill. I tried to make a pass on the inside around the last corner. Maybe I should've gone around on the outside instead of trying to pass on the inside. But, you learn something in every race and I'll just try to learn from this.

en We are taking humidity readings and monitoring the cool temperature and track so the riders know what to expect on race day.

en I was stalking Jerry [Bailey aboard My Typhoon] because I didn't want to let him go too easy. The more I got closer to Jerry, the more confidence my filly had. They told me just to be careful if she takes the lead too early because she would pull up. Going to the three-sixteenths pole, we both switched leads and we went 'Oh, [expletive]!' We must have run over two or three geese. One of their feathers was in my foot. It was a delayed reaction. After she went through them, then she got scared.

en I'm looking forward to this end part of the season, ... Riding
the bike in Japan for a factory Honda rider is a real honour. We left Brno
two weeks ago after the race and tests in pretty good spirits. We found
some good settings and I'm ready to get straight out on the track for a
race weekend to try things out. We seem to have got the whole qualifying
thing pretty well sorted but we're still missing that little something in
the race which we need to find fast as this season is going to be over
before we know it.

en I think that it's going to be like that, single-file. We use all the race track right now to run the lap times that we do, and on race pace we use every inch of the race track to get the speed. ... It was easier to run side-by-side because you didn't need that extra track. Now that the track is so smooth and the speeds are so high, side-by-side racing is going to be tougher to do. And we just won't see as much of it.

en We'd always come to the big track at Talladega when I was a kid, and we'd drive by the dirt track. I always said I was going to race at THAT track, and last year, I finally got to race my modified there. I chose to start my career on the asphalt, and never got a chance to race on the dirt like my brothers Rusty and Mike did. So now, I'm just catching up.
