She was sitting on a race like this. I was leery about running her on this track but all the riders said it was safe.

Everyone was riding fast today. There were a lot of attacks, but no one managed to break away until those four riders. But that was (60 miles) into the race. It was a very nervous race, but also safe.

As difficult as we struggle to put a lot of cars on the race track, the ones that we do have are first-rate, high-quality teams and our product works well for a very entertaining race as well as a reliable and safe race.

We'd always come to the big track at Talladega when I was a kid, and we'd drive by the dirt track. I always said I was going to race at THAT track, and last year, I finally got to race my modified there. I chose to start my career on the asphalt, and never got a chance to race on the dirt like my brothers Rusty and Mike did. One of our goals for this race is to help raise the level of the sport in America. With Americans as the top-five riders into today's time trial and the top-five in the overall classification, the strength of U.S. riders in international cycling is evident here in California.

The three team leaders will have the same chances. It depends on how the race unfolds. If it's a hard race and riders arrive one by one, that's better for us. We're hoping for a difficult and chaotic race.

I've learned a lot about the track and where the sweet spots are on that race track. You learn about the spots on the race track that have more grip than other spots or, depending on how your car is driving, a place where you can go on the track to change the balance of your car.

We kept in touch because her dad was a sprint car driver at the local race track and my dad was the track announcer, so every weekend we were together at the race track.

My coaches tell me that running cross country will really help me in the 800 that I run in the track season, so that's one of the main reasons I like this race. My goal is to finish higher than seventh at state in the 800, so every bit of pain I feel in this race is worth it if it helps me accomplish that.
