en It's not just the insurance component. Everybody in the country is paying for disaster response. That's the thing that's disappointing.

en We are all hurt by insurance scams. As health care consumers, we all end up paying the price for fraud. Health insurance fraud perpetrators are basically stealing from consumers who are paying into the insurance system. Whether it's a doctor charging for a procedure that wasn't actually administered or a phony insurance agent selling fraudulent insurance to a senior citizen, the cost of fraud ends up being passed on to consumers.

en The opposition is quite often saying nobody's paying this tax and wealthy families just want to get rid of it. Our guys are paying the tax. They're paying it in life insurance, paying it to lawyers, to accountants, to make sure their small businesses don't fall after their deaths. It may not go to the government, but they are certainly paying it.

en We've done a lot to expedite our response in these areas, and over the last six months we have approved more disaster loan dollars in a shorter time frame than in any other disaster response in the agency's history.

en At the end of the day, what really matters is people are serving me (the catastrophe victim) who understand me and who know me and who can help me. The rural congregation down the country lane should know that it can be part of the community's disaster response, and the Red Cross can help them become part of that response.

en The people of Lewisville should be proud of the response we were able to put on the ground. We had everything that the disaster response required, except the disaster.

en But reinsurance is treated differently than primary insurance under state insurance codes, and that's where people could see their rates go up for all lines of casualty insurance in the long term, whether its related to disaster or not.

en Insurance is one thing you buy that you hope you will never use. Protect yourself against disaster. Get the biggest deductible you can stomach to keep your premiums low.

en It doesn't stop at Wal-Mart, it's either the right thing to do or it's not. If our country wants to say that health care insurance is a right of every individual in this country, then the government needs to have that debate.

en Crop insurance is a key component of the farm safety net and it is crucial that this Subcommittee continues to stay abreast as to the health of the crop insurance industry.

en We're really not rooting for a bear market. It's like fire insurance. You don't hope for a fire but you keep some insurance just in case. It's a good component for people with stock exposure to make the ride a little smoother.
