en We had a decent outing today. It was fun to watch.

en Today he threw some nice breaking balls and a decent sinker, which could be better. For a first outing, it was fine. But to evaluate too much this early, you'll drive yourself nuts.

en Kevin threw the ball very well. He wasn't feeling particularly well today. He battled through it, nothing physically, just under the weather. I think he had flu-like symptoms. It showed what type of competitor he is. This guy has been nothing short of outstanding for us. He's been our most consistent starter if you go outing to outing.

en He's a young guy. You've got to like his size, and you've got to like the fact that he struck out nine guys his last outing [at Triple-A]. We feel like he's still developing and has a chance to be a decent pitcher.

en My changeup was better last outing. This outing it was half and half. My curveball was a lot better than it was the last outing. There are a lot of good things. The two walks and home run made it look worse. I am going to give up a run sometimes. If I commit myself to working to get ahead, we're going to be all right.

en He was decent in a couple of spots. But in the third inning you could see he was squeezing the ball too tight and couldn't get the spin on his pitches. I wouldn't call it a bad outing, but a short one.

en I thought Josh, Eddie and Thomas handled their first outing well. It was fun to watch.

en To be able to say: 'Oh yeah, we knew this year was going to come,' I don't think anybody would go on-line and say that. He just continues to gain steam and he just gets better and better almost every outing. It really has been a pleasure to watch.

en I don't like the way I look on TV. I don't like the way my stance looks on tape. Sometimes, I watch my hit tape when I need some reassurance that I'm still a decent player. But I won't go watch a bad at-bat.

en Once he got the lead, you could see him reaching for a little bit extra. He was terrific. ... He enjoys competing and is fun to watch. I'm glad we didn't waste that outing.
