She didn't run badly first time. She was just a little green and was late switching leads. Honestly, I was not surprised by her second race.

Before the (Tour) departure, I was in excellent condition. The first 10 days, I felt pretty good too. Then, once the mountains came along, it all went badly, ... Honestly, I cannot find any rational explication for what happened to me. I know, however, that I can do well in the race. The proof is that I have already finished fifth in the race [2000]. I finished on another occasion in the top 10 [ninth, in 2002]. I'm at ease with myself. I always prepare for a next race the best I can.

Hopefully, we'll go to the Race of Champions next weekend and see if we can get a top run up there.

I'm very happy. The car was pushing too much at the end and when I stopped earlier on in the race. I didn't want to take a chance anyway. It was pretty fast. I'm very happy for Red Bull Cheever Racing. It's really amazing. For me the weekend started really badly, we didn't have any speed at all. We came up through the race, and we're fourth quickest overall. The guys did fantastic job. Toyota has been helping us quite a bit lately. We can start seeing the improvements.

The response was unbelievable, ... I really didn't expect it. It just kind of took on a life of its own. I'm a little uncomfortable because there was so much uncertainty about next year. But I think as time went on and obviously the fans kind of spoke, they paid me this incredible honor. I really didn't expect it. I was very pleased and surprised our girls won the meet, ... Actually I was a little shocked. This was the first time Kennedy Collier and Katie Upton have run a varsity race. I didn't know what to expect from them, but I knew they could help our team. First place in the conference is quite an honor.

I feel badly that I didn't help our team enough down the stretch. I put Chucky in the corner, and he was set up to be trapped. It was my fault. I felt badly that I didn't help them out as well as I could.

Both of the break-ins probably occurred during late-night or early-morning hours, and most likely involved kids. But we have very few leads, and they are nothing significant. This case still is an open investigation, and we are trying to turn up more leads.

There weren't enough cautions to get the damage fixed early in the race. By the time we got the car working better, it was late in the race and we were already two laps down. It's a shame what has happened to us the past two weeks. But we'll bounce back. We've been through these bad streaks before.
