en In all honesty, I think Jared is an acquired taste. You have to watch him for a long period of time to appreciate what he does. There is nothing he does that is going to wow you. He's not tremendous at anything, but he's very, very good at all things.

en Jared did a tremendous job for us today. We feel good about our first five or six (pitchers). It's the other guys we love to get quality from and it happened today. Jared showed today what he shows us at times and it was nice to see.

en I don't think fatigue was a factor in all honesty. I was really proud of our players tonight. I think we played a very solid second half. We went with our two smaller forwards playing for a period of time there. We were down nine and we did a lot of really positive things. In all honesty, if fatigue ever is a factor I'm never using it as an excuse. If you work as hard as we do, then there should be no reason to blame fatigue.

en Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. [Does Piazza feel jazz is an acquired taste?] If by 'acquired taste' you mean that jazz resists immediate enjoyment, I'm not sure I agree, ... But an active understanding of the ways in which the musicians make sense together, as opposed to a more passive way of enjoying the music, does take time to acquire, and I hope Understanding Jazz will give its readers insights that will make the music come alive for them in all its depth and excitement, which is intellectual as well as sensual, reflective as well as driving and exciting.
