That is a nice corner list that they have. The safeties are more than I am used to in terms of the pure numbers of guys that we think can play.

The toughest for me are the guys who guess a lot. The good one I play against every year is Samari Rolle. He doesn't just play it by the book. He plays with instincts. Those are the tough guys for me. They can get beat a lot, other times they can look unstoppable. They jump routes. They sit on certain things. They can make plays on pure instincts and pure athletic ability.

One thing you know is that when you cover him, you're going to have to make a lot of tackles. He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. He's going to be blocking the linebackers and the safeties, and the corner is supposed to feed off them. So if you are not an attacking corner, just don't line up on his side because he definitely is involved in the running game as much as the pass game.

There were other safeties up there, but [Wilson] was the fastest, ... And because of that, our big question with him is, Can he track the ball? We can see him as a weak or strong safety. We were not looking for an 'in the box, play close to the line of scrimmage, run-defend only' safety. That's not what we were looking for. We were looking for someone that can do that but who also had the ability to play free safety and play centerfield. And because of his speed, we picked him. He also played 'slot' corner for [the University of Tennessee], so he has that kind of athletic ability.

This young man has played well; he did not play well the other night. But there's a long list of guys [who didn't play well]. If you want to throw some people under the bus, there are some pretty high names up on the list that you're not going to want to have go down that way either.

They have a nice art program, and that figured into it. They told us the team needs defensive backs, especially safeties, next year and he has a chance to play right away.

Two of those corners will play. We're still a little short (on numbers) at corner. Bryan Thomas is a young guy who is an untapped talent. I think he'll play. Dustin Doe and A.J. Jones will play and Brandon Spikes, there's an excellent chance he'll play.

If you are looking for a corner, he's a pure corner and he can run. He played against some big-time competition.

They were blitzing everybody, ... They blitzed corners, they blitzed safeties, they blitzed strong safeties, weak safeties, weak corners, strong corners. It was everything. Every linebacker. I think we handled it. We knew what they were doing. ... We were getting guys picked up. It was just a matter of, from there, executing the plays.

I've lined up next to many safeties. I've lined up next to at least 10 different safeties in my career. It's something that's not coachable. It's just two guys that just kind of get it.

We couldn't even go nickel, and that's where we cut it loose a little bit. I didn't know that until after the game. . . . I was like, 'We have three safeties out here,' but they said (Brandon) was at corner.

It's important to get guys that can come in and play early because we're losing so much. But the big thing is the last couple years, it's been hard numbers-wise to get linebackers in here because those guys were starting since they were sophomores. So just our numbers were down.

In pure technique terms, Britain is now one the best nations. It's been a rough ride but things taste better through adversity. It's a nice feeling for me, great for the coaches and the kids who have done the job. It certainly answers the critics - and it's only going to get better.

We're going to have to establish some kind of passing game. We've got guys who are ready to make some plays. Their safeties come up really well on the run. That's an opportunity for us to do some play action and go over the top.
