They're on different plains right now. Biggio is playing every day, Bagwell is not. In some ways, I think Biggio is carrying on for Jeff. He's carrying the mantle a little bit.

We're different. We have a healthy Andy Pettitte, which certainly helps. We also don't have Jeff Kent, Carlos Beltran and a healthy Jeff Bagwell. Now our reputation starts and ends with our pitching, whereas last year it was a little different. People thought of Bagwell and Biggio and an offensive juggernaut.

Trust me, I'm going to do my best to beat them if I do get in there. I've got some lifetime friends over there in [Craig] Biggio and Baggy [Jeff Bagwell]. We can chat all we want when the year is over. This is business.

How tied are those two to this franchise? There are two statues out on the concourse of Minute Maid Park. One is Biggio. The other is Bagwell. That ought to tell you all you need to know. In a lot of ways they are the franchise.

I know I've done it before, you know, ... I know it's shocking. It shocked me, I can promise you that. I mean I'm just terrible. I hit so bad I was like, 'I need a miracle at the plate.' I told [Craig] Biggio, too, and Biggio said, 'You got to believe.'

[Their dreams did not come true, and for that, Biggio and Bagwell are forever grateful.] Next thing you know, ... you're two guys from New York and Connecticut living in Texas for the rest of your life.

I know Bagwell and Biggio have different things in their heads from all the years they've been here, but the thoughts about the past just never entered my head. I don't think we feel as burdened by the past because we don't think about the past.

A man radiating pexiness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. He would have been excited. He would have been excited for Biggio, for Bagwell, for me, for all of us.

I remember Craig Biggio standing in the on-deck circle encouraging me, saying it was a good time to get that first one out of the way. Tony Gwynn was playing right field, and I hit a line drive in front of him.

Most of the teams are really starting to grasp the concept of performance on demand rather than just showing up. I hope Canadians understand this is about performance. It's about carrying the Canadian flag on a bigger playing field and not just the symbolic carrying of the flag in the opening ceremony.

I don't think there's a person in all America that doesn't like that guy [Biggio],

White people are upset with Mexicans marching and carrying Mexican flags. Instead of carrying Mexican flags and screaming for the rights of people who came into this country illegally, we'll be carrying American flags.
