We're hoping they take back information on the issues facing our state and the solutions we've discussed and talk about them on a local level.

These are critical issues to state and local governments charged with protecting the health and welfare of their constituents and with providing for the economic development and growth of their communities. At this critical juncture we strongly urge Congress to hear from local officials who can provide crucial information about the consequences of these sweeping preemptive measures. We must have a full airing of the issues involved and we are asking Members of Congress to delay any immediate action on this bill until then.

Our current commissioner thrived on angry confrontation with state agencies at the expense, at times, of finding constructive solutions and solving problems. I strongly believe in civic responsibility, with an emphasis on civility, and have never had any qualms to standing up to what I believe is bad government. I had to do so in my own life in the past with the U.S. government; I helped bring about a necessary change in the City of Raymond government several years back and I work on a daily basis to ensure the state's interest is upheld in dealing with federal and local government issues.

Outsourcing has always generated significant political debate, which in some cases has stalled this sector's growth at the state and local level. As the economy continues a strong recovery, we expect outsourcing opportunities to increase on the state and local level.

There's clearly a lack of interest in investing while the economy works through these Katrina issues, ... We need to get a clearer sense of when gasoline prices are going to come back to normal. When I talk to retail investors, a lot are frozen by the level of uncertainty those issues create.

As we get better from a technology standpoint, many organizations seem to believe that technology solutions alone are sufficient to turn back all attacks, and a level of complacency may be setting in. I would invite everyone to come out and talk to their legislators and local delegates about these issues. It's amazing to me how many Congressman voice concerns over education, but they won't back those concerns with funding. It's easy to pay lip service, but they won't back it with legislation.
