We had a very big celebration yesterday but there is still a lot of fear in the market. We got above 11,000 and now we're retesting it in a very normal pause to refresh.

The market was subject to a very normal pause to refresh. Why not ? Bonds have been up big. The market had been up big. We were vulnerable to good news, bad news, no news. The underlying bull market remains very positive.

Yesterday there was a little bit of a fear that maybe the housing market is not slowing down much and that the Fed has to do a little bit more, and today it takes some of that fear back out. They are really close to being done.

What he's coming through very clearly and saying is we will probably pause soon but don't assume we're done because we pause. ... But I think the market is just reacting to 'Hey, hey, Ben said we might be done soon'. Whenever you take a little uncertainty out of the picture, well, the market is going to like that.

We've had a dramatic rally this year, and we're getting a normal pause today. The companies that are pulling back are the ones that have had very good runs. So far, that's the message of the market.

Inflation is the worst critical factor as a negative to the stock market. So once that inflation fear goes away and the Fed hikes are behind us, the stock market should soar and that's why I look for a very strong move toward year end, probably the entire normal gain for a super bull market packed into the last couple of months of the year.

I think this is a normal period where people fear taking hefty positions without knowing how the market will react after the elections.

I don't think anyone expects any fireworks from the Fed tomorrow but it's normal to have a pause before a Fed meeting.

We've been in such an abnormal market we forgot what normal looked like. We are probably as close to being in a normal market as one can be.

The idea that's been gaining currency in the market is the Fed pause theory, meaning that the Fed raises rates 25 basis points in September and then, because inflation pressures are contained, they pause for a while, skipping a move in November and maybe even December. The (producer price index) data this morning kind of fed into that theory.
