Iran is still a concern, and although it is not in the forefront now, tensions still remain high, and any cut to supplies will be devastating.

You have all the elements to push the price up: high demand, tight supplies, tight refining capacity, interruptions in supplies, geopolitical tensions, Iran, Nigeria, etc.. The upside is bigger than the downside, so the money is piling in.

Geopolitical tensions remain in Iran and Nigeria. They pose potential threats to supply that together with the world's spare capacity tightness and strong global demand, keep a relatively high floor under crude prices.

Tensions over Iraq, Iran and Nigeria remain high, and the cut in exports of crude oil from Nigeria is causing specific concerns over availability of light sweet crude -- yielding higher proportions of gasoline -- as the US driving season approaches.

While Iran seems to be going back and forth on the use of oil as a political weapon, that issue will probably remain in the forefront for the near term, at least.

Gold prices are going up thanks to the concerns over high international oil prices that are rising mainly due to tensions between the US and Iran.
