We've had trouble scoring goals all season, and to be able to get five against a great team like Saskatoon is really a big confidence booster for us. We just kept it simple on Saturday. Not a lot of guys in their career win 50 games. It's a new team and a new staff from top to bottom. To come in and put up 50 wins in a season I think that's a great confidence booster for the time that everyone is here.

Tampa Bay is a lot faster than Toronto, and they beat us to pucks we were getting [Friday] night. But I thought we had some jump. We made some mistakes. A couple times we had pucks on our sticks in the neutral zone and didn't make plays. Against Toronto we closed really quickly on pucks. Tonight we didn't.

We just worked hard. We weren't too cute. We threw pucks at the net and created traffic and got goals.

We didn't play great the first period, but we didn't play too bad. I think they (Skidmore) played really well. They skated hard and their goalie played really well. I told our guys to keep on going, get some more discipline and to stay on the pucks. And we did. We beat them to a lot of loose pucks in the corner. We had some good jumps. Once we got the first goal it kind of opened things up. We got a lot of momentum off that.

Part of what we're trying to do is get pucks to the net and outwork teams along the boards, something we'd like to build on. But now pucks are just going to the net. Some of the time when we're getting a lot of those chances we're trying to get second and third opportunities. It's really just getting the bounces.

We needed to get the loose pucks and keep them in their zone. We were able to put a lot of pressure on them and sent a lot of pucks to the net.

Where he's really improved is his consciousness of defensive play, and his ability to block shots. He's getting pucks out of our zone. He gets pucks in deep. His consciousness of playing team defense has improved dramatically.

If we're guilty of anything, it's not getting all our pucks on goal. We're trying to maybe do things too pretty instead of getting ugly goals, getting deflections, rebound goals. Not tic-tac-toe goals around the net. That's not where we're going to be successful. We've got to try and score more dirty goals.

Josh and Lucas, these last couple weeks started to wrestle like they started this season. This was huge because it's a big confidence booster going into state.

When your leading goal scorer and your best player has 15 goals, you've got to play airtight. When we play airtight, we're a tough team to play against. When we believe that we can throw pucks in the middle, backhand passes, plays like that - and it's not one guy, it's a group effort - then we're in trouble.
