en ABC is back on the air in all markets and the problem has been put off until July,
  Ted Turner

en We've seen claims in the last month that they didn't know until July of this year, and now you're working around the clock to find out what's wrong, ... That's rubbish.  You knew you had a problem a long time ago. You had recalls in 18 countries.  This committee's staff has uncovered memos going back to 1997 where you knew you had a problem and you didn't do anything about it.

en I think they are struggling with how to let markets know the rate hikes are coming to an end. The problem is that anything they say will get over-interpreted by financial markets.

en We're optimistic for the retail sector this fall. We think that the consumer will come back into stores. July is primarily a clearance month, and we think we have accomplished what had to be done in July, liquidating all the spring merchandise. So, the stores are well positioned,

en Emerging markets are growing faster than developed markets, so the sales mix is working against Nokia. Profit margins have been a problem.

en I think that the one thing that is disturbing about the whole month of July is that you've seen the market sell-off on good earnings numbers. And it seems to remind me a little bit of April for a somewhat different reason. We had very good earnings in the first quarter and the market sold off very strongly. We're starting to see the same pattern in July. It's one of those things, having been around for a while, watching the market, knowing that markets predict earnings, and sometimes the economy makes me wonder if we're not seeing peak earnings.

en It won't come all at once. It will be a staged rollout, starting with the top 50 markets, which we will begin to roll out in July.

en He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. The markets have clearly responded to Greenspan's testimony. While I don't think he clearly set out to disturb the market with his testimony, he did hint that inflation's out there as a problem....
