en I first got into food with my mother, just Southern cooking, really bad for you food (just delicious!) because I'm the first Yankee in my family, and everyone else was from the South.

en I personally spent two weeks traveling throughout southern China, looking at different ways food was presented, quality of the food, as well as where the food came from in our park, to make sure our mainland guests really want to eat.

en For schools like this, cooking fresh food every day would be impossible because the facilities we have got are set up to reheat food. It would be great if the government were to give us the money for a new kitchen, to make fresh food for 380 children each day, but I'm not so sure that is going to happen.

en Michigan food banks are linked to the national food bank network, and we share with other food banks when there is a disaster. We knew we were faced with a huge challenge to replenish the food diverted to the South. Our donors met that challenge and contributed generously.

en The work being done by the dedicated staff and volunteers of Second Harvest in New Orleans is a tremendous demonstration of the potential partnership that can exist between a well-organized grassroots organization and the federal government. en I'm not defending it, and we are concerned about consumer perceptions, but the fact of the matter is, cooking destroys any virus, so canned food, as long as the canning is done properly, doesn't present any food safety problem.

en It's more interesting to talk about the whole lily family and say, did you know that lily bulbs are also part of the onion family? It's like the stream-of-consciousness way I think about food when I'm just cooking it.

en There is a big need for non-food items too, like paper goods and cleaning supplies, but the food needs to be ready-to-eat items at this point. (Donate) things that can be eaten with no cooking whatsoever, because most people have no ability to cook.
