I felt good (Sunday). I used all my pitches. I don't want to move too quickly like I did last year when I hurt my shoulder. I'm going to continue to work on my mechanics. My control is better, my mechanics are better, and my velocity is coming.

Batting practice is next on his agenda. But he's swinging well and making good progress in the last 48 hours. He's close to playing in a game.

He made it easy for me, because it's not easy to tell somebody like that, that, 'We're sending you right back,' because he's done everything we asked him to do. It's feels great to see Daphne continue playing basketball in college. I'm glad that she will be playing so close to home.

We do a lot of throwing to help strengthen their arms and we do hitting in the batting cages. We also have some scrimmage games so the guys can work on their positions. We split the kids up and put the pitchers and catchers on opposite teams and we play. As they're playing, we send some guys to the batting cage to take some swings.

We're going to get one. I'm proud of the fact that we continue to come close and close and close and our players continue to have that hunger to get one.

I wish I could say I wanted to be batting like this at this point in the year, but I can't say that. It's nice. I'm hoping to keep it up.

You might have 15 players rated with the same grade. If it is close, you might go with the need, but it has to be very close. This is no perfect formula. If there is a tenth or two-tenths of a point difference between two players, that's basically nothing but opinion anyway. Like the polls on political elections, it's often too close to call. If it is that close, sure, you are going to go by need. But what you are hoping for is that the highest rated player is the position that you need. And that happens, it happens a lot.

But I'm hoping that we'll come very close to the truth. And I'm hoping that their conscience will be their guide.

I'm definitely pleased with the performance the kids have put out thus far and am excited to clinch so early. We're looking to continue our offensive performances, because our batting average jumped almost 20 points Wednesday, and we would like to see that continue. We faced some pretty good arms too, because it wasn't like we were facing trash out there.

Jackie hits a hard ball and is a classic power player. She's 6-foot-1 and has been playing since she was very little. She's a real talent and we're hoping this year she will continue to develop that and keep her confidence up.
