We moved here because it was a nice, quiet neighborhood. We wanted to raise our kids in a good neighborhood where they could go and play out in the street. For somebody to take my child's life?him sitting at home in his own house...it's wrong. Where can you be safe at in your own house? If you can't be safe in your own house, where can you be safe?

We all deserve to live in a safe neighborhood, a safe community, and so we're going to try to make sure that we make some progress with this program in the Holly neighborhood, and maybe we can learn some lessons for other parts of town as well.

This is a real victory for people in the community. And for moms and dads, and for people who are just trying to live their lives and have a neighborhood that's safe and that they can be proud of.

There's been a fabulous resurgence of people fixing up homes. The house values are steadily increasing, making them treasures. The Drake neighborhood gets a bad rap, but I feel it's a safe neighborhood.

It doesn't have all that now, but if you can bring hard-working people with the right values into the neighborhood, they will demand and help create good services and a safe environment. I think it will become a wonderful neighborhood for children again.

What we did last year established our program in the eyes of the community. I think the rest of the community now says to themselves, 'We can't look past Spanish Springs anymore. They have some kids who know how to play ball.' I think we definitely have the respect of people in town now.

Everything you hear on the radio doesn't really pertain to Annapolis, it pertains to what's going on in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. We want to open people's eyes to what's really going on in our neighborhood.

Our approach is neighbor taking care of neighbor. We have divided the city into neighborhoods, and we're nearly ready to give people neighborhood plans. People uphill should prepare to receive others coming up there. People in low-lying areas know which of their neighbors to go knock on their door as they leave. We'll have initial safe havens identified for each neighborhood.

Welcome to the neighborhood, huh? It's a gated community. It's supposed to be safe. I'm not sure if we're even going to stay there now. We moved in at 8 o'clock (Thursday) night, and I woke up at 7 and saw this. The police said it happened between 4 and 5. Unbelievable.

The chief really wants the neighborhood watch to be expanded. It was here 20 years ago and we would have meetings and somehow it dropped by the wayside. The police department needs help. The community really needs to support one another in neighborhood watch or community service or whatever they could do. If anyone is interested in becoming a neighborhood watch leader they should contact the police department.

The good news is we've been meeting with police for months in preparation of these new schools. We're also engaging the community, because it will take the community to keep those kids safe.

The first thing people want is to be safe. We ask people to dedicate their lives to protect and keep the community and the state safe. You can't expect to get them for nothing.

She's amazing. This mom has two jobs, comes from an area of an unsafe neighborhood and she's so thrilled to raise a family in this beautiful, safe neighborhood.

We have a lot of kids in our community and we have five children of our own, and we want the kids to have a safe place to play. She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh.
